There is a lot of history surrounding Kishoreganj, a town rich in Muslim heritage. There are many famous places of ancient and modern architecture here. The historical Pagla Masjid (Pagla Masjid / Pagla Mosque), which is about two and a half years old, is a sign of it. 

This three-storied mosque is located on the banks of Narsunda river in the west of the city. Its five-storied minaret easily catches the eye from afar. The building of Pagla Masjid is very beautiful and the architectural style is also very nice. Pagla Masjid built in modern architectural style is famous for various historical and scenic structures. 

History of Pagla Mosque:

Legend has it that a mad spiritual man floated in the middle of the river Narsunda to get a mat and settled near the present mosque and many devotees gathered around him. After the death of that madman, this mosque was built next to his tomb. As a result, the mosque came to be known as the 'Mad Mosque'. 

This mosque is considered as a very sacred religious place not only for Muslims but also for all religions in Greater Mymensingh and its surrounding areas. It is a deep-rooted belief of people that whoever donates something in this mosque with a sincere intention, his wish will be fulfilled. 

As a result, common people give a lot of charity in the mad mosque in the light of such belief. 

Pagla Masjid is now much expanded. Initially, the amount of waqf land of Haibatnagar Dewanbari was 10 percent. Currently its amount is 3 acres 88 percent. A Hafeziya Madrasa was established next to the mosque in 2002 at the expense of the mosque. 

Recognized as one of the most profitable religious institutions in the country, the mosque has been named Pagla Masjid Islami Complex. The huge buildings of the complex have been constructed with the proceeds of this mosque. Apart from this, the income of the mosque helps in various service sectors. 

How to visit the historic Pagla Mosque:

The mosque is located in Harua area of Kishoreganj city. You can go to the mosque by rickshaw from anywhere in the city. 

Hotels in Kishoreganj District:

There is no residential hotel arrangement for night stay around the mosque. 

However, there are good facilities for staying and eating at Hotel Castle Salam (Chinese and residential) in the big market of Kishoreganj district headquarters, Hotel River View (residential) opposite Awami League office, Hotel Gangchil opposite Rangmahal cinema hall. There are also several hotels including Hotel Shravani, Hotel Narsunda, Hotel Al Mubarak, Uzanbati.
