Sonnaichari Trail is the most beautiful and charming trail of Chittagong with a length of 28 km. The Soniichhari Trail is located in the Hadi Fakirhat Bazar area of the Mirsarai Pahar Range of Chittagong District and falls within the Baraiyadhala Sanctuary.
Baduizzakhum or Bandure Kum of this trail is a narrow yet wide deep Kum, with steep rocky walls on both sides 100-150 feet high! The light doesn't come from the plants above, the flapping wings of thousands of monkeys and chirping screams are deafening! And such a bad smell has created a terrible ghostly atmosphere!
This trail is so inaccessible that it is very dangerous to go during full monsoons. It is possible to visit it only in winter, which is also somewhat risky. Steep canyons, deep ruts and slippery roads, huge boulders, bat spawning, leeches, all in all, it is a very difficult and adventurous place, no doubt.
On the way, you will find thousands of different plants, hundreds of Amalaki trees, pick as many as you want and put them in your bag, no one will refuse. There are many monkeys, called langurs by the locals. With luck, they won't do any monkeying around. Because on such a dangerous trail, you can be in danger even if you are careless for some reason.
Near the end of the trail there are fountains, various cascades, Badur-Kum or Baduijakum. So named because of the abundance of bats. Various types of fish are found in this very deep pond. Locals hunt them at different times.
It is said to be the most difficult trail in the Mirsarai range. Be it monsoon or winter, life jacket must be kept with it. Especially in monsoons, the road becomes very slippery, there is a danger of falling into the water at any moment.
You have to board any bus from Dhaka to Chittagong and get down at Hadi Fakirhat Bazar. Hadi Fakirhat can be reached by train from Sitakunda. From there you have to walk along the lane of Hadi Fakirhat Jame Masjid or take CNG to go to Big-Pathur. The trail starts from there. It may take three to five hours from the beginning of the hill at the end of Hadi Fakirhat village to the end of the Sonai-Chhari trail. It is possible to visit this area in one day.
There is no need to stay for this trip, but if you want to stay overnight, you will find low-quality hotels in Mirsarai or Sitakunda. If you go to Sitakunda Bazaar, there is Hotel Simon. If you want to stay in a good hotel, you have to go to Chittagong.
