Lalan Akhara is located at Cheuriya in Kumarkhali Upazila of Kushtia District. Baul Samrat Lalan was buried in Chheuriya soil. After his death, the disciples built a shrine here (Fakir Lalon Saijir Mazar) or Lalon Akhara in the local language. Surrounding his mausoleum in a huge dome are rows of graves of his disciples. This shrine is a pilgrimage site for Bauls. There is a gate some distance from the shrine. You have to enter the shrine through this gate. Every year on his death anniversary, lakhs of tourists flock to Baul Samrat along with devotees. Next to the shrine is Lalon Museum. A Lalan door, Lalan's sitting jug, devotees' bells and several rare pictures are preserved in the museum. The entrance fee to the museum is Rs. If you come out of the shrine and move forward, you will see the bust of Lalan.

How to go:

SB, Shyamoli, Hanif, Sohag, Khalek Paribahan buses run directly from Dhaka to Kushtia via Bangabandhu Bridge from Gabtali or Technical Junction in Dhaka. Also many buses run directly from Dhaka-Kumarkhali. 

From Kamalapur railway station you can go to Sundarban and Chitra from Cantonment station. But in that case you have to get down at Poradah railway station located near Kushtia and take a bus or autorickshaw to come to the city. 

From Kushtia city you can go to Lalon Shah's shrine by rickshaw or auto rickshaw.
