Mainamati Jadugar of Kotbari has attracted the attention of tourists from all over the country. It is now considered as an important place for students, tourists, as well as researchers. The museum has become a center of education as well as entertainment.
Excavations of Sribhava's Mahavihara, Kotila Mura, Charapatra Mura, Rupbanmura, Itakhola Mura, Anand Vihara, Rani Bangla, and Bhoja Raja's Bari Vihara in Comilla yielded many valuable antiquities. In order to preserve and display these antiquities, a west-facing museum was established in 1965 on the south side of Shalbon Vihar in Comilla Kotbari facing Shalbon.
Centered around the museum, an archeology department rest room and a beautiful flower garden were also built around it.
These issues are also mentioned in the archeological publication Mainamati-Lalmai booklet published by the Directorate of Archeology of the Ministry of Culture, Government of Bangladesh. As the museum's main building lacked space to display important artefacts, the southern side was extended in 1970-71 and the building took the shape of an English "T". The entire museum building has a total of 42 receptacles measuring 1.83 meters, 1.22 meters and 61 meters. In which artifacts are displayed.
From the left side of the entrance of the museum, the exhibition starts from the exhibition hall No. 1 and goes round in sequence and ends at the exhibition hall No. 42 on the right side of the entrance.
The exhibition showcases archeological site excavations, architectural remains, metal inscriptions, ancient coins, terracotta prints, burnt clay plaques, bronze figurines, stone figurines, iron nails, stone beads, ornaments and household pottery. .
Apart from this, some stone and bronze statues are also kept on display in different places of the museum building on the floor between the tanks. Some of these statues were collected from different parts of the ancient plateau. Notable stone and bronze statues on display in the museum are - Different types of stone Dandaiman Lokottara Buddha statue, Tri Vikram Vishnu statue, Tara statue, Marichi statue, Manjur statue, Parvati statue, Hargauri statue, Nandi statue, Mahishamardini statue, Mansa statue, Ganesha statue, Surya statue, Heruka statue. and a bronze statue of Vajrasattva. There are also other small and large bronze statues.
The museum has a giant bronze clock. Its weight is 500 kg. It has a diameter of 0.84 meters and a height of 0.74 meters with the upper fence. The gold and silver coins found in Mainamati are protected in the depository of this museum. Terracotta plaque. Bronze and copper articles. Iron products. Different types of toys made of clay. Patterns of woodwork. Manuscripts of ancient manuscripts written on vellum paper. Pottery etc. of various samples.
Mainamati Archaeological Museum is open for visitors 6 days a week except every Saturday.
Half day weekly closed on Sunday and Monday every week.
The museum is open from 10 am to 6 pm during summer. Lunch break is from 1 pm to 1.30 pm.
Open from 9 am to 5 pm in winter. Break from 1 pm to 1.30 pm.
Open Friday 9am to 12pm and 3pm to 6pm.
10 am to 4 pm during Ramadan. Mid-day break is from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM.
Apart from this, the museum remains closed on all holidays declared by other executive orders of the government.
You can come to Comilla-Comilla station by train from Dhaka, Sylhet, Chittagong, Chandpur, Noakhali etc., get down from Comilla and come by auto-rickshaw or rickshaw to Kandirpar, then go to Kandirpar as described below and charge 10 taka per person. Check the train fare from the railway station's own website.
By bus from Dhaka to Comilla - From Dhaka Jatrabari, Asia Transport, Asia Line or Tisha Transport (AC, non-AC both available), Royal Coach from Kamalapur can come by air conditioning. Royal coach is very comfortable but slow. Climb up any of them, you will see the Buriganga Bridge, Meghna Bridge, Daudkandi Bridge and the morning sunlight on the roads on both sides. You nature lover won't need anything else to add a farewell look. Come to see Comilla Cantonment (1) and get down or you can get down at Kotbari Bishwa Road (2). The rent will be 200-250 taka. It will take 2 to 2.5 hours.

(2) or CNG from Kotbari Bishwaroad to Kotbari will cost 20/30 per person.
By bus from Chittagong to Comilla – Saudia Transport (AC,Non-AC) will come from Padua Bazar in Comilla and will go down to Jangalia via Bishwaroad, the fare will be Tk 200-250. It will take 2.5 to 3 hours. Chittagong residents do not need to describe the scenery around the Comilla-Chittagong road, both sides of this road are beautiful. Anyway, Tomchambridge will come down from Jangaliya and take 5 taka by auto.
Kotbari from Comilla town – 10 km from Comilla town and 3 km west of Comilla bypass Nandanpur on Dhaka-Chittagong highway, Kotbari at the foothills of Lalmai and Shalbon hills.
You can go to Kotbari by using the CNG station on the west side road from Comilla Tomchambridge Chowmuhani. Rent is 20 rupees. It will become Daulatpur.
From CNG get down to Kotbari and take auto to Shalbon
