Sufi Syed Ahmed, the ancestor of Sholakia 'Sahib Bari', who came from distant Yemen to spread the divine message of Islam, organized an Eid congregation on the banks of the Narsunda river in his own taluk in 1828. Sufi Syed Ahmed himself led the congregation.

According to many, he used the word 'swa lakh' in the prayer to express the abundance of Muslims. According to another, 125,000 people gathered in that day's congregation. As a result its name is 'Swa Lakhi'. Later the name Sholakiya came into use due to evolution of pronunciation. Others say that during the Mughal period, the revenue of the pargana located here was Rs. Evolution of pronunciation from Sowa Lakh to Soalakhiya and hence Sholakiya.

Later in 1950 local Dewan Mannan Dad Khan donated an additional 4.35 acres of land to this Maidan.

The area of present Sholakia Eidgah ground is 7 acres. Location of Sholakia on the banks of Narsunda river. At present there is a two storied primary school at the eastern end of Sholakia. The Eidgah grounds are surrounded by high walls but are sometimes left open so that people can enter and exit the grounds.

Besides, there is no door in the wall of this field. There are 500 worshipers standing in each of 265 rows in Sholakia field. As a result, a total of 1,32,500 worshipers can pray inside the field.
