Teknaf Upazila is the southernmost part of the map of Bangladesh. The distance from Cox's Bazar district headquarters to Teknaf is about 86 km. The beach here (Teknaf Samodra Soikot) is about five kilometers further south beyond Teknaf town.   

Teknaf Beach is one of the cleanest and most beautiful beaches in the country. Teknaf Valley is one of the longest (80 km) sandy beaches in the world. Everyone will enjoy a long walk on this beach. The traffic of fishermen is high on this beach. Especially in the early morning or evening, fishermen are seen catching more fish on this beach.Besides, this beach is completely different from other beaches in the country. So many colorful fishing boats are not seen on any other beach in Bangladesh. Teknaf is the ideal place for those who want to enjoy the sea in solitude. Teknaf beach water is more clean than Cox's Bazar beach. 

Colorful all-engined boats of fishermen can be seen lined up at various places along Teknaf beach. Fishermen decorate their boats with colorful flags like red, blue, purple etc. The boats also have artistic scratches of paint. 

Teknaf is an ideal place for growing plants native to the Indo-Himalayan and Indo-Malayan environments. Along with various marine animals, you will see different types of plants including mangrove, lagoon, mudflat. Teknaf naturally has mangrove forests. This mangrove forest has been supporting the life of about 161 species of fish.Apart from this, there is a dense forest a little far away from this beach. There are several settlements of fishermen near the beach. Full moon tidal waves make Teknaf beach huge. Meanwhile, a big wave of the sea came and crashed on the shore. 

From here to the north side of the beach Tainga hills touch the sky. The close friendship between the sea and the mountains can be seen here. Moreover, such a beautiful, well-groomed beach is rarely seen on any other beach in the country.From the main entrance of Teknaf Beach, take a left hand side to reach Shah Pari Island. And if you go to the right hand side, you can go to Hazampara, Shilkali or Shamlapur beach. 

Another attraction of Teknaf beach is enjoying the sight of fishermen fishing in the morning and afternoon. Shrimp fry hunters are always busy with their own tricks to catch shrimp on this beach. And hundreds of fishermen come here morning and afternoon with boats loaded with fish from far seas.

To stay in Teknaf, there is Bangladesh Tourism Corporation's Motel Ne Tong (03426-75104), AC double room, Tk 1,900. AC room 3 thousand 100 taka and general double room 1 thousand 300 taka. 

This tourist motel is about eight kilometers before Teknaf town. Booking in this motel can be done from the head office of Dhaka Tourism Corporation. 

But for those who want to stay very close to Teknaf Beach, there is Central Resort (01838379372-73).

The price of the expensive room here is 4 thousand to 4 thousand 300 taka. The rent of economy room is 1 thousand 500 to 1 thousand 800 taka. 

Besides, there are three cottages here namely Sagarkana, Megh Balika and Neelachal. Each cottage has two rooms. The rent is 2 thousand rupees.

how to go:

Teknaf can be reached directly from Dhaka by road. AC buses plying on this route are St. Martin's Service. Rent 1 thousand 200 to 1 thousand 500 taka. 

Besides, non-AC buses of Shyamoli Paribahan, Saudia Paribahan, Unique Service, Hanif Enterprise also run on this route. Rent 700 to 800 taka. 

Teknaf can be reached by bus and microbus from Cox's Bazar. Bus fare 80 to 120 taka. And in microbus 100 to 150 taka. 

Buses from Cox's Bazar to Teknaf depart from the inter-district bus terminal and microbuses depart from Kalatali and Teknaf bypass junctions in the city. 

You can go to the beach from Teknaf town by auto rickshaw. It takes less than half an hour.
